Content Level:
Age Group:
Birth to 5 years

The Pyramid Model and the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health,® are both working to support the professional formation of the infant and early childhood workforce to meet the complex needs of young children and families across the country. Currently, the Pyramid Model is working with 28 state leadership teams to develop cross sector professional development systems around this framework. Similarly, The Alliance® is engaged with 27 states (many of these overlapping with Pyramid Model States) who have adopted the Michigan-AIMH Competency Guidelines and Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health® to build professional competency across disciplines and at multiple levels of service in the infant and family field. In this session, we will explore concrete ways the Pyramid Model and the work of the Alliance can be integrated. The work in the state of Virginia will be used as a case study to examine the possibilities for states when these two frameworks are utilized concurrently.
