W1: Bridging Interactions: Engaging in Play to Teach Social Skills
Often teachers struggle with knowing that they should guide children’s play and interactions when they feel the need to stand and monitor the classroom. This session addresses this concern and how to play effectively with our children, while keeping them engaged and helping them initiate and maintain play with their peers. We will discuss toys and play items that promote successful peer interactions and how the teacher can model and scaffold play to promote peer interactions. Make-and-take ideas/patterns will be shared for either trainers/coaches to use in their work or for immediate use in the classroom.
