T12: Screening and Assessment of Social Emotional Competence in Young Children
This session will describe the purpose and processes involved in screening and assessing social emotional development in young children birth through age five. We will provide an overview of specific tools and procedures for administering social emotional screening and assessment tools. Methods for using assessment information to identify and develop social emotional goals, plan and implement targeted instruction across daily routines, and monitor progress of social emotional goals will also be covered. Case studies will be utilized to illustrate assessment processes, and participants will have multiple opportunities to identify and plan the use of recommended practices related to social emotional screening and assessment to take back and use in their work.
